Review Policy

Anyone with a Truemuse account can review a product they've personally used, with one review per product, which you can update. Reviews marked "Bought this product" are the reviewer's own statement; because purchases happen on brand websites, Truemuse can't confirm them.

You can also review a brand itself, once per brand, for example its customer care or how it handled your order. Brand reviews follow the same rules and are checked the same way.

• Describe your own experience: texture, scent, results, how long you used it
• Mention your skin or hair type if it helps others
• Be respectful: criticize the product, not people
• Leave out personal details like full names, phone numbers or addresses

Every review is checked before it's published, using the same standard whatever its star rating. We only remove reviews that are:

• Spam or advertising
• Abusive, hateful or harassing
• Not about the product
• Containing personal information
• Written by someone connected to the brand or a competitor
• Paid for or incentivized

We never remove a genuine review because it's negative, and brands can't pay to remove or change reviews. This follows the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's rule on consumer reviews.

You can add a few photos to a review. They must be photos you took of the product, and you must not include other people's faces without their permission, or personal information such as a name, address or order number. Photos are checked before they're published, the same way as the rest of the review.

If a review of yours is removed, it's because it broke one of the rules above. If you think we made a mistake, contact us and tell us which review, and our team will look at it again.

Brands can reply publicly to reviews of their products. They can report a review they believe breaks these guidelines, but only our team decides, and the review stays visible while we check. Anyone can report a review with the Report link under it.

You can write in English or Spanish. Reviews are shown in the language they were written in, with a note when it's different from the page language.
