About Truemuse

Truemuse is operated by Truemuse Incorporated ("Truemuse", "we", "us"). Truemuse is an online beauty marketplace where beauty brands list their products for shoppers in the United States. We don't sell products. When you choose to buy, you buy directly from the brand on its own website, and the brand's terms, shipping, returns and privacy policies apply to that purchase.

By using Truemuse you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Truemuse.

Who can use Truemuse

Truemuse is for people in the United States. You must be at least 13 to use Truemuse and to create an account. If you're under 18, use Truemuse with the permission of a parent or guardian.

Your account

You sign in with a one-time link or code sent to your email, so there's no password to remember or steal. Keep access to your email secure, because anyone who can open your sign-in links can use your account. You can download your data or delete your account at any time from your account page.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, for example by posting fake reviews.

Adverts and product information

Product information on Truemuse, including names, descriptions, ingredients, sizes, prices and images, is supplied by the brands. We review adverts before they go live, but we can't guarantee that every detail is complete, current or accurate. Prices are set by brands on their own websites and can change. Always check the product label and the brand's website before you buy.

A product appearing on Truemuse, including in the Brand Spotlight, isn't an endorsement by Truemuse. See our Advertising Disclosure for how products are ordered and how the Brand Spotlight is chosen.

Product values, ingredients and other product information come from brands, and each brand is responsible for their accuracy. "Certificate provided" means the brand has shared a certificate or test report with us; "Declared by brand" means it hasn't. Truemuse doesn't test products or guarantee brands' claims.

If an advert looks wrong, misleading or unsafe, use Report This Advert on it or contact us, and our team will look into it.

Lumi and Scan

Lumi and Scan use automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to answer questions and recognize products. They can make mistakes. Their answers are based on information from brands and shoppers, and they are not medical, dermatological or professional advice. Patch-test new products and talk to a doctor or dermatologist about any skin, scalp or health concern.

Scan is in the Truemuse app. Only scan products. Don't photograph people, and don't upload images you don't have the right to use. Photos are used to read the product label and aren't stored.

The Truemuse app

If you download the Truemuse app, we give you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use it on devices you own or control, to discover beauty products, for as long as you follow these Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app.

If you get the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these Terms are between you and Truemuse, not Apple or Google, who aren't responsible for the app, its support or any claim about it. Apple and Google (and their subsidiaries) can enforce these Terms against you as third-party beneficiaries. You must also follow the store's terms and the terms of your mobile carrier.

Reviews and other content you submit

You're responsible for the reviews, messages and other content you submit. Reviews must reflect your honest experience and follow our Review Policy. You must disclose any connection to a brand, and you may not accept payment, free products or other incentives to write a review.

You keep ownership of your content. You give Truemuse a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, translate and share it on Truemuse and in our marketing of Truemuse, for as long as it's on Truemuse. We may remove content that breaks these Terms or our guidelines. We never remove a genuine review because it's negative, and brands can't pay to remove or change reviews.

What you may not do

  • Post fake, misleading or incentivized reviews, or reviews of your own or a competitor's products
  • Scrape, copy or harvest Truemuse data or content with automated tools without our written permission
  • Interfere with Truemuse, get around rate limits or security measures, or try to access accounts that aren't yours
  • Use Lumi to create harmful, unlawful or misleading content
  • Use Truemuse in a way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights

Brand websites and other third parties

Truemuse links to brands' websites and other sites we don't control. We're not responsible for their content, products, prices, delivery, returns or privacy practices. Any purchase, dispute or refund is between you and the brand.

Our content and trademarks

Truemuse and the Truemuse logo are trademarks of Truemuse Incorporated. The Truemuse site, apps and their design are protected by law. Brand names, logos and product images belong to their owners.

Disclaimers and limits on liability

Truemuse is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we don't warrant any product advertised on Truemuse.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Truemuse won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any products you buy from brands. Our total liability for any claim about Truemuse is limited to $100. Some states don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem with Truemuse, contact us first at contact@truemuse.us, as most issues can be solved quickly. These Terms are governed by the laws of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You may bring claims in small-claims court where you live, where it has jurisdiction. Any other claim must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you and Truemuse consent to those courts.

In case of any difference between the English and Spanish versions of these Terms, the English version controls.

Ending your use, and feedback

You can stop using Truemuse at any time and delete your account from your account page. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we're required to by law, or to protect Truemuse or other people. The parts of these Terms that by their nature should continue (such as ownership, disclaimers and limits on liability) will continue after your access ends.

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.

General terms

These Terms, our Privacy Policy and the policies they link to are the whole agreement between you and Truemuse about using Truemuse. If a part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something right away, that doesn't mean we've given up the right to. You can't transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else; we can transfer ours as part of a merger or sale of our business. We'll contact you about Truemuse by email or on the site, and you agree that this satisfies any legal requirement for written notice.

Changes and contact

We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you on Truemuse or by email before it takes effect. Questions? Email contact@truemuse.us or write to Truemuse Incorporated, 788 NE 23rd Street, Suite 2301, Miami, Florida 33137, United States.
